We have incredibly exciting news: Our SEEC coalition of climate champions has reached 100 members in Congress for the first time ever!
We’re the largest environmental coalition in Congress dedicated to protecting our environment and tackling the climate crisis.
It’s important to acknowledge how we got here. 15 years ago, SEEC was launched at a time when many people were calling climate change a hoax. We started with 36 members who knew that this was an issue that needed to be addressed with urgency!
With each election cycle, we helped to elect new members of Congress who made protecting our environment a key priority and part of their platform. Even when Democrats lost seats (like in the 2022 election), we defied the odds and continued to grow our ranks by re-electing over 95% of our pro-environment members to the House of Representatives.
Our members have gone on to become Senators, Governors, and Cabinet Secretaries, where they have continued leading the fight to clean up the pollution in our air, protect our water, and build a more sustainable future for generations after us.
And all the while, we helped pass legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act which became the largest investment in clean energy in history!
We didn’t do this alone. Support from individuals like you has been vital and helped us continue to build our organization of like-minded climate activists from a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and parts of America – but we all share the same core values that together we can achieve a cleaner and more prosperous future for our country.
