A plastic pollution treaty negotiation just fell apart (here’s what you need to know)

Did you see this news?

While we were all paying attention to what’s happening in the U.S. with the election, negotiators at the United Nations were working on a treaty to limit plastic pollution…

But friends, they remained deadlocked!

This shows how far we still have to go in the fight to protect our planet from plastic pollution. Will you add your name to our petition if you agree this should be a priority?

Plastic is currently filling our oceans, polluting our beaches, and even infecting the air we breathe. This is an omni-present problem that we know needs to be addressed.

But negotiations fell apart when countries that make a majority of plastic did not agree about bringing down the planet’s overall plastic production and also controlling the toxic chemicals that are used in the making of plastic.

While these global efforts have stalled, our SEEC members aren’t waiting around to take action. We know that just five companies are behind a quarter of the world’s plastic waste – and we’re clear-eyed about what it will take to reduce these pollutants.

Will you add your name to our petition if you agree that we should remain in the fight to reduce plastic waste here in the United States and globally?
