Mining companies are moving in on Bears Ears

We fought back and successfully turned the bulldozers away from Big Bend National Park (for now at least), but now we need to turn our attention to the next public lands under Trump’s attack:

Within weeks of Trump shrinking the size of Bears Ears National Monument, mining companies have already begun staking claims on these newly unprotected lands.

Trump is literally selling off our public lands for profit. This is completely unacceptable! Will you please rush in a donation right now to help us protect Bears Ears National Monument?

Here’s the deal: These mining claims rely on a very ancient and outdated law from 1872 that effectively gives corporate interests the rights to these lands in perpetuity.

Short of reforming the law entirely (as SEEC leader Rep. Jared Huffman is working to do), one of the best ways to protect these lands is by designating them as national monuments.

But Trump is trying to undo those protections and hand the land over to mining companies.

We proved that when we fight back, we can rally enough bipartisan outrage to stop Trump’s efforts to sell off our public lands to the highest bidder.

Will you chip in today to help us protect Bears Ears and keep dirty drilling and mining companies away from America’s precious national parks and monuments?
