Last week, we warned you about a critical issue: Donald Trump canceled five offshore wind projects that were already fully permitted and under construction.
Today, we have a major update to share before we ask you to chip in to help us fight back:
First, the Trump Administration has been sued by developers and Democratic-led states in a direct effort to block his order from going into effect. Four of the five projects have already submitted legal action against the Administration. One project, Sunrise Wind, said complying with the sweeping order would cost them $1 million per day and a potential project cancellation cost of more than $8 billion.
Second, our SEEC Members in Congress are fighting back and calling this out for what it is: a blatant attempt to stifle cheap, clean energy for the American people and investments in our economy.
| “When a project that has met every requirement is suddenly stopped without explanation, it is fair to ask whether this decision is being driven by evidence, or by personal and political grievance.”
— Rep. Bobby Scott (VA-03) |
| “This is just another example of the Trump Administration needlessly driving up costs for working people.”
— Rep. Seth Magaziner (RI-02) |
| “I will continue to fight this moronic decision, starting by asking my New York Republican colleagues whether they will stand up for their constituents or continue to bow down to Trump.”
— Rep. Dan Goldman (NY-10) |
Will you donate now to help us keep fighting back and protect offshore wind?
