Friend,
Washington’s top prosecutor, Denise Cheung, just resigned – here’s what happened:
- Denise Cheung, Washington’s top prosecutor, was ordered by the Trump administration to investigate the $20 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which supports projects that would significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the country.
- After being put in charge of the investigation, Cheung determined there was insufficient evidence of wrongdoing and declined to move forward with a grand jury.
- She was ordered to take law enforcement action regardless of her findings, and so she resigned.
We applaud Cheung’s courage to stand up for what is right – and not just bend the knee to Trump.
SEEC Members have been at the frontlines of pushing back against the illegal actions of the Trump Administration. From SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Paul Tonko leading the protests at EPA and NOAA, to SEEC Member Rep. Gerry Connolly launching a probe into Elon Musk’s role in tampering with our federal agencies, to SEEC Vice Chair Rep. Don Beyer lifting the voices of USAID workers who have been stranded abroad because of Trump and Musk’s reckless actions.
We know that you’re with us, friend, but with Trump and Musk controlling or dominating so much of the media, it can be hard for our members to get their message through. That’s why we need your help, so that we can amplify their voices and make sure the American people know that our SEEC Members are not standing by, but they’re fighting back!
Thank you for keeping up the fight,
– SEEC PAC
