Trump wants to “play God” with our endangered species

BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump’s “God Squad” just voted to exempt oil and gas activities in the Gulf of Mexico from the Endangered Species Act.

This is devastating news for our most vulnerable marine life — especially the critically endangered Rice’s whale, which only lives in the Gulf and has fewer than 50 whales remaining.

This is a historic and dangerous overreach. This is only the third time in history the committee has ever voted. Past meetings of the God Squad (which hasn’t met in decades) included expert testimony from biologists, ecologists, and other scientists. This time, the Trump Administration restricted attendance and heard from no experts.

Our SEEC Members in Congress are leading the charge to fight back and stop them. During the meeting, SEEC Vice Chair Rep. Don Beyer led a protest on the steps of the Interior Department telling the crowd, “What we really have here is a political emergency.”
