The Trump administration just launched a devastating new attack on our nation’s public lands.
The Interior Department has announced plans to kill the Bureau of Land Management’s Public Lands Rule — one of President Biden’s landmark policies that put conservation on equal footing with drilling, mining, and grazing.
This rule protects 245 million acres of public lands that belong to every American. Polls show that the American people want these lands to remain protected. But Trump doesn’t care what the people want. His Interior Department is moving to rescind this rule and hand our lands over to oil, gas, and mining companies behind closed doors, with no accountability.
SEEC Member Jared Huffman, the Ranking Member of the Natural Resources Committee, is leading the fight. He put it best:
“Public lands are part of the solution to the climate crisis. They are not Trump’s to sell off. They belong to all Americans.”
This isn’t just about one rule — it’s about whether America’s public lands will be preserved for future generations or sold off to the highest bidder.
