Weather warnings shouldn’t come with a price tag

Can you imagine having to pay for a weather forecast?

Friend, the National Weather Service – part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) – is the latest target of Trump’s attack against scientific research.

The administration is seeking to downsize and privatize it – which means that the life-saving forecasts, watches, and warnings the National Weather Service issues may no longer be accessible to all. If you agree with us and our 100 SEEC climate champions fighting to fund scientific research and data collection, will you pitch in today to send the message that weather forecasts should remain a public service?

OAA has already experienced cuts under Trump, with further staff reductions potentially on the horizon. This means that public safety will suffer. Clearly this administration doesn’t care about the protection of life and property – but SEEC members do.

At every turn, they have been the first to step up and fight back against Trump’s anti-science policies, from leading protests at EPA and NOAA to launching a probe into Elon Musk’s role in tampering with federal agencies. At the tip of the spear is SEEC Vice Chair Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1), who led 113 of her colleagues in demanding answers from the Trump Administration for how NOAA is expected to meet its legal obligations to the public if it is dismantled.

Friend, jeopardizing the critical public services that keep us all safe simply isn’t an option. Your contribution today helps power the urgent work of our SEEC members – can they count on your support?

Thank you,
SEEC PAC
